The Chiwda Times: 2nd July 2020

CHIWDA TIMES

A short video-post on July 1 with a quote from Patanjali's Yogasutra got lost between other messages. A mere mention of it in the morning edition on July 2 did less than justice. So much wisdom encapsulated in so few words, not at all an easy task to elaborate within the confines of the morning edition. In fact there is the definite risk of misinterpretation and misunderstanding. Requires space of its own. Still a risky task, it reminds one of the first leap into the pool from the diving board--never know what it is like till it is actually attempted.

So here goes.

Is there actually a higher purpose to life other than the mundane humdrum routine existence ? i'm sure each one of us has faced this question in life at some point or the other and has searched for an answer . As Nirbhye pointed out,you can find anything by Googling except your own self. How does one do that ( finding oneself )? Guides and maps are available in plenty in today's hitech digital  world, but they can only point out a path to the destination. The actual journey has to be undertaken by each one of us by himself. The same guide  may not be suitable to all. Too much baggage is definitely a handicap  and the final leg has to be travelled in solitude.Patanjali's Yogasutras may be considered  as one such guide consisting of short euphorisms that are full of meaning. Each of the euphorisms can be interpreted in many ways and there are many existing commentaries on the yogasutras. Shiv's Guru has chosen one Sutra which says that every soul has to find its purpose, a way out of this mire of daily life - like a lotus arising out of mud. When an astrologer is focused on his work, there comes a moment when he Sun's energy shines in its full glory and energies him .The same goes for any other field, when one is totally focussed on the task at hand.

Born in the world ( that is like mud ), live like the lotus i.e. being in the mud grow out of the mud. Always have a higher purpose in mind. Just a little food for thought over the weekend for those interested. Mercury is still in retro, but who  cares, sanu ki ? Maybe Shiv can explain it better.
